The basic loop
Speech-to-text converts what the caller says into words. A language model works out what they mean and what to do. Text-to-speech says the reply. Turn detection decides when the caller has finished speaking.
Each step adds a little delay, so the whole loop has to be fast for the call to feel natural.
Understanding real callers
Callers don’t speak like a script. They hesitate, correct themselves and, in much of Southeast Asia, mix languages in a single sentence. A voice bot needs to be tuned for the way your customers actually talk.
Doing, not just talking
A voice bot is only as useful as the actions it can take. Connecting it to your systems through workflows or APIs lets it check details, make bookings and update records.
Knowing when to hand over
Good voice bots recognise when a person should take over:
- The request is complex or unusual
- The caller sounds frustrated or upset
- The caller asks for a person
- Policy requires a human decision
Measuring success
Track how many calls the bot completes on its own, why calls end, call minutes and quality scores. Review transcripts regularly and tune the prompts and workflows.
